Common questions
How do I play? Build down the columns in alternating colours, and build each suit up from Ace to King on the foundations. Turn cards from the stock, one or three at a time, as often as you like. An empty column takes only a King. How to Play in Settings shows each rule on real cards.
What does “winnable” mean? A winnable deal is one a solver has already played through to all 52 cards home before it reaches you, so there is always a way. A random deal is shuffled and played as it comes, winnable or not.
How do coins and Unlimited Play work? A random deal costs 25 coins, a winnable deal 50 and a hint 10. You start with 400 and get 50 every day and 50 for every win; undo, Replay and the Daily Challenge are always free. Unlimited Play, one purchase, makes every deal and hint free on all your iPhones, iPads and Macs, with Family Sharing. Coins stay on the device that earned them.
I bought Unlimited Play and it isn’t showing. Settings › Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought it with.
I updated from an earlier Lamplight. Where is my progress? Your coins, Unlimited Play, statistics, won Daily Challenges, settings and game in progress came across on the first launch of 1.4.
Does it work on the Mac? Yes, as a Mac app of its own, with the classic Windows Solitaire table in a window as small as you like. Window › Keep on Top (⌥⌘T) keeps a game in view while you work, and the menus have their keys: ⌘N for a new game, ⇧⌘N for a winnable deal, ⌘Z to undo, ⇧⌘H for a hint.
Do I need Game Center? No. If you’re signed in, your achievements and Daily Challenge times go to its leaderboards; if you’re not, nothing changes and the App never asks you to sign in.
Can I turn off the sounds? Sound and haptics are each in Settings, separately. The App follows Reduce Motion.
