PoolLog (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use the PoolLog mobile application (the “App”).
Our Privacy Philosophy
PoolLog is designed with privacy as a core principle. We believe your pool data is yours and yours alone. We do not collect, track, or sell your personal information.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you use PoolLog, you create and store the following information locally on your device:
- Pool configuration details (volume, surface type, sanitizer system)
- Water test results (chlorine, pH, alkalinity, etc.)
- Chemical addition records
- Maintenance logs and notes
- Expense tracking information
- Reminder preferences
Important: All of this data is stored locally on your device by default. We do not have access to this information.
Location Information
PoolLog uses your postal code to fetch weather data for your pool location. This is done through:
- Postal Code Entry: You manually enter your pool’s postal code
- Weather Service: We use Apple WeatherKit to fetch weather conditions
- No Location Tracking: We do not request or store your device’s GPS location
- No Location Permissions: The app does not require location permissions
The postal code you provide is only used to fetch weather data and is stored locally on your device.
Automatically Collected Information
We do not collect any analytics, crash reports, or usage data. PoolLog does not use any third-party analytics services, tracking pixels, or advertising networks.
How We Use Your Information
All pool chemistry calculations, recommendations, and data storage happen locally on your device. Your data is used solely to:
- Provide water chemistry recommendations
- Display test history and trends
- Send reminder notifications (if enabled)
- Track maintenance expenses
- Fetch weather conditions for your pool location
iCloud Sync (Optional)
PoolLog offers optional iCloud sync to keep your data synchronized across your devices. If you enable iCloud sync:
- Your pool data is stored in your private iCloud account
- Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using Apple’s security standards
- We do not have access to your iCloud data
- Only you can access your synced data through devices signed into your iCloud account
- You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app settings
iCloud sync is powered by Apple’s CloudKit service and is subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
- Local Data: Your data remains on your device until you delete the app or manually delete records
- iCloud Data: If you enable iCloud sync, data remains in your iCloud account until you delete it or disable sync
- Weather Data: Weather information is fetched in real-time and is not permanently stored
Third-Party Services
PoolLog uses the following third-party services:
Apple WeatherKit
- Purpose: Fetch current weather conditions for your pool location
- Data Shared: Postal code and country (converted to coordinates)
- Privacy Policy: Apple Privacy Policy
Apple CloudKit (Optional)
- Purpose: Sync your data across devices (only if you enable iCloud sync)
- Data Shared: Your pool data (stored in your private iCloud account)

Apple StoreKit
- Purpose: Handle in-app subscriptions for Premium features
- Data Shared: Purchase information handled by Apple

We do not use any other third-party services, including:
- No analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
- No crash reporting services
- No advertising networks
- No social media tracking pixels
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, or disclose your data to third parties. Period.
We may disclose information only if required by law, such as:
- To comply with legal obligations
- To respond to valid legal processes (subpoena, court order)
- To protect our rights, property, or safety
Children’s Privacy
PoolLog is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us through the support options available within the App.
Data Security
We take data security seriously:
- All data is stored locally on your device using Apple’s secure data storage
- Optional iCloud sync uses end-to-end encryption
- No data is transmitted to our servers
- The app works completely offline
However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
You have full control over your data:
Access and Export
- You can view all your data within the app
- Premium users can export data to CSV format
Delete Your Data
- Delete individual records within the app
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Disable iCloud sync to remove data from iCloud
Opt-Out Options
- Weather tracking: Disable in pool settings
- Reminders: Disable in app settings
- iCloud sync: Disable in app settings
California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: We do not collect personal information beyond what is stored locally on your device
- Right to Delete: You can delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information
European Economic Area (EEA) and UK Users
If you are located in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Legal Basis: We process data based on your consent and to provide our services
- Data Controller: You are the controller of your data; we are merely the processor

- Right to Erasure: Delete your data by uninstalling the app
